2-1. Adaptive thermal comfort standards

Group leader: Associate Prof. Tomonori Sakoi , Shinshu University

Activity Plan

•Investigate indoor thermal environments and thermal physiological state in several actual houses to clarify the upper limits for skin temperature and sweat rate in the comfortable state for several activity levels.

•Measure clothing thermal insulation values and clothing evaporation resistance values of typical Indonesian clothing.

•Develop a new adaptive thermal comfort model for Indonesian climate.

Outputs

•New thermal comfort standards for the tropics are developed.

2-2. Indoor air quality

Group leader: Prof. Tetsu Kubota, Hiroshima University

Activity Plan

•Conduct field investigations on indoor air quality (IAQ) in affordable apartments in major cities of Indonesia.

•Clarify the effect of ventilation on IAQ in at least 2 standard affordable apartments through a CFD analysis.

•Confirm the effect of ventilation on IAQ through the field study using experimental houses as well as actual houses.

•Develop and modify the ventilation standards for IAQ in public apartments of Indonesia.

Outputs

•Ventilation standards for indoor air quality (IAQ) in public apartments are developed.
